Terminology
1. Kata; Prearranged martial actions. This is the cornerstone of our system. To the uninitiated the kata may appear to be a dance, but it actually contains martial applications.
2. Basics; Punching, kicking, and blocking in the traditional karate-do manner.
3. Etiquette; We all show respect to one another regardless of rank. It is customary to bow to one another before participating in any designated activities such as sparring or 2 person conditioning exercises. We also bow before entering the dojo (training hall) and leaving the dojo.
4.Rank; Our ranking system consists of white, green, brown, and black belts. For children sensei awards stripes after certain achievements are made within said rank. Moving up in rank is based on an individual basis.
5. Class structure
Bow, enter dojo, remove socks and shoes
When sensei wishes to begin class line up according to rank. The highest ranking student is first in line.
Bow in to show respect to those who have come before us and to show respect to our sensei.
We begin warm-ups, basics, kata and any other lessons sensei wishes to perform that day.
Bow out and announcements.
